If you use the HDMI output, the picture quality is excellent. The sound quality is pretty good, but obviously if you want the best sound possible you will be a little disappointed. So if you want a decent home theater for DVDs and you don't want to spend a lot of money, I would say this is a great option.The two minor issues I found with it were: 1) By default it uses DVS audio, but I found that this made it very difficult to hear dialog so I switched to stereo audio 2) There is limited input options for the theater system. Even a single HDMI in would have been nice to have on it. A little over a year later it is having problems, not playing discs, unit turns on but no sound and the remote or power button on the unit will not turn off the unit, you have to unplug it. It takes about 3 or 4 times of turning on and unpluging it before the sound comes on. My sugestion is look at something Sony or Samsung if you want it to last. Stay away from Phillips, Magnavox, and RCA they WILL disappiont you. The sounds better than the speakers that I have on My big screen. The subwoofer throws out a decent base. Its not going to blow you away its just ok. I had a surround system before and this is my first soundbar. The surround sytsem did sound better than the soundbar. But. If you want a OK sound without running wires and having speakers hanging on your walls this is the way to go. Its OK. |
